Oprah Winfrey reflects on being back ‘home’ in Baltimore

Oprah Winfrey is in the process of filming a movie in which she is producing and staring in called, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.” The movie is based in her home town of Baltimore, and although Winfrey feels that the town as “grown up,” it still gives her that sense of formality. She also made time to have lunch with Richard Sher, an old colleague from WJZ. This article demonstrates that Oprah still utilizes the media to her full advantage by producing and staring in a movie, while bringing up her past in the media by meeting up with an old co-worker from the local radio station she started her career at.

Oprah Creates Another Best Seller with ‘Love Warrior’

Since 1996, Oprah Winfrey has had a book club called “Oprah’s Book Club,” in which she highlights books and authors that she finds rather interesting. In this article, she promotes a new book written by Glennon Doyle Melton, called, “Love Warrior.” With her blessing this book reached number three as many other of Oprah’s picks have. This relates to our communication class because Oprah uses her talk show (media) to promote books, which is another form of media.
